The "best amplifier" depends of course on your priorities, and (sadly) on what your budget will allow. The relatively low (even for Sound Labs) efficiency of the M-3 means that, if you want high volume levels, you'll need a pretty beefy amp. If high volume is not a priority, then that opens up more possibilities.
The usual suspects would include Accuphase; Atma-Sphere MA-1's and MA-2's; Pass Labs; big Levinson amps; InnerSounds; Parasound JC-1's; Wolcotts; Convergent Audio Technoloby; Joule Electra; older Jeff Rowland; and I'm sure quite a few others I've left out. Disclaimer - I peddle some of these.
What are your top priorities? That will help narrow down the field quite a bit.
