At first, I thought I lost a little of the precise focus of the U2s, probably afforded by the steel frame on that spkr as opposed to the M1s. But then when I did the small modification of replacing the single front foot of the M1 with a pair of laterally placed feet, this seemed to restore a great deal of bass definition in the M1s, and of course they go deeper than the U2s, so there is now a net gain in bass response. One other reason that I may be liking the M1s better is that on the approved factory cross-over (24uF/12ohm/15mH), the toroid is working from ca 500 Hz and up, whereas in my U2s, the toroid was not coming in until ca 1200 Hz and up (16uF/7.5ohms). It should be possible to modify the U2 x-over to be exactly the same as that in the M1s, and this might be a big improvement. Don't get me wrong; the U2s are superb also.
