In Reply to: M-2 Time To Charge Panels ????? posted by Tom Merritt on July 12, 2003 at 07:04:20:
A follow up to my original post. The seller called me yesterday and told me that the speakers had been in the crates for the last 3-4 months. He advised me to be patient and to let the panels charge for 5 days. They have progressed wonderfully over the weekend. They have literally come to life and sound incredible. My wife took an immediate dislike to a pair of Wolcotts that we were auditioning several months ago on some Quadratures. She loves the Atma-sphere amps and went to work last nite armed with an SPL meter to defend the honor of the MA-1's. She did achieve 93dB peaks in our 27x17x10 room which I think is reasonable given that the M-2's don't yet have the impedance mod (on the way from Soundlab). The M-2's sound fantastic already and we are both very happy with them. I had a pair of original Pristines which I was never satisfied with. The seller of the M-2's told me that he is convinced that the Pristines were not up to snuff. That must have been the case as there is a huge amount of difference between the sonics of the two. The M-2's are light years ahead of the Pristines.
Thanks to everyone that responded to my posts. The dialogue between SL owners greatly enhances the ownership experience and the internet which allows us all to communicate with each other so easily should also receive credit. I'll keep everyone posted. I'm going to try some Wolcott's at some point as I feel compelled to compare with the AS.
