I would add to the erudite discussions of the impedance characteristic of an ESL that you will
have read below, that the makers of "every other speaker" are not exactly honest when they
write that their product has an "8-ohm" impedance. ALL speakers of all types exhibit at
least some degree of variation in impedance in relation to frequency. Some cone-type
speakers have scary dips in impedance due to poorly designed cross-over circuits, for one
example. All cone woofers have large changes in impedance at their resonance points, for
another example.
