We certainly agree that the SoundLabs can sound very good in a wide variety of room sizes and shapes. I'll stick my guns on this one, though - I think that the real saving grace of this setup is the tall ceiling. The A-1s absolutely love high ceilings. I had the opportunity of once remodeling my old Victorian home and removing the 8' faux ceiling from my living room to reveal a 10' plaster ceiling above it (they used to do this in the 40's to conserve heat). The improvement in sound was shocking - the concept of vertical soundstaging was readily apparent when the speakers had room to breathe above them - I've never heard this effect with any other speaker. Soundstage detail is apparent from not only left to right, but from top to bottom! Another added benefit is the additional volume of air contributed by the additional height - the SoundLabs love to have lots of air to breathe.
