" I would consider purchasing the best digital room analysis system available for correcting room / speakers interactions."
Electronic Room Tuning actually comes down to : Adding Or Removing something from the speaker's spectrum to try to cover-over some problem that the room has !
I think it is a Wonderful Invention, but again it is often misused !
Example: You have a choice of bring in a 50 Point White Filter Set to suck-out the 1/60TH.of an Octave Room Rings Modes to tame a nasty audition room..Or you could hang up 4 Quilts on at least 4 of your 6 sided room walls !...To do a better Job!
My point is: Just as most Medicine is a cover up.... of the symptoms.... not the cure of the Dis-ease..
Electronic Room Tuning is a Cover up for a Poor Room Acoustics...That sometimes you are stuck with.!..
The Recording Studio Concept : is to render the Monitor Room as neutral as possible and then only add minimal electronic ring removal as may be necessary..Often none !
Reasoning being: Electronic Turning must introduce Noise,Phasing problems,Distortion and Addition Electronics to the Simple is Better Straight line Signal Path......
In most Room Tunings Testing Readings...If you move the Test-Reference Microphone even one foot, you may get a completely different room curve reading...What Is Truth ? How much do you trust the curve of Reference Microphone?
I feel the most successful use of Electronic Room Tuning has been taming of The Mick /Speaker Feedback Problems for On Stage Concert Monitors...And Church /Auditorium P.A. !
Putting a Graphic Equalizer in a previous stage that is feeding my Sound Lab ESL Speakers to cover-up a room problem is ,to me,another kind of ESL abuse..I'd rather fix my room !.
