Efficiency discussion on SL is not a taboo at SLOG. We have gone over and over this discussions over the years. The reason your earlier post is somewhat ignored is because, what Brian Walsh said to you is absolutely 100% correct.

Be patient, leave the speakers charged up (and playing if possible) for a week or so before you fly off the handle.

I do not have much experience with MacIntosh amps - are there 8ohms and 4 ohms tab that you can try? SL is definitely a picky spaeker when it comes to amps suitability. Don't throw the baby out with the bathwater.

Your philosophy on returning the SLS is flawed. Maybe it is your (claimed high performance) amps that needs to be returned for not doing a decent job. What kind of money did you have to fork out for the MacIntosher?
