Some where between the 2 ohm & 4 Ohm output tap of your amplifier, you may find the sound you seek...

Skip the loudness control of the C-40...I don't think you will need that much equalization with Sound Labs....They are clear pure like really good headphones....

Re-Set your Power Amp input controls full up....And Re-set the individual channel level controls on the back of the C-40 pre Amp.... They should be moved to higher levels out also...As I remember Mac amps are kind'a on the low gain side...

Have you tried sending your CD player direct to your amplifier inputs....? A very clean sound....
