I understand your problem. You would not want to borrow an amp from a friend (or a
dealer, for that matter) for fear that you would damage it. I have no further suggestions,
except that before you dump either the speakers or the amplifier, and absent the
possibility of borrowing another good amp for testing, it might be worthwhile to send your
backplates (only) back to the SL factory for inspection. They could tell you with certainty
that there is or is not anything electrically wrong with the speaker circuitry. Also, it just
occurs to me to ask whether the Krell is blowing both channels or only one. That could be a
clue as to whether the problem lies in the M3s or in the amp; it seems unlikely that both
speakers could be problematic at the same time. But on the other hand, if the amp has a
single common power supply for both channels, stress on one output could induce the
whole amp to fail. And, as others have suggested, I could be barking up the wrong tree
entirely. This situation could just be due to an incompatibility beween the Krell and M3.
