What going on behind the speaker panels ?.....You may be experiencing mid-range reflections causing shift to your front speaker wave presentation....

And easy way to test this ...Hang a blanket on the back walls or over a tall CD stand to absorb back panel wave reflections....Like the SALLIE....

Midrange should come into focus and the over all sound gets sweeter with a better top end clarity.....
