I have posted about this issue before (see some of my earlier post on Pristines). My Pristines II circa 1994, factory wired out of phase. All (in phase) amps that I have tried requires the speaker wires reversed.

You may also want to dig into the bass transformer for the extra tapping for lesser bass output (my preferred tapping). While you are there you may want to do a few other things (check my previous post).
