Can't really hurt the electronics.....And it will only hurt the Mylar if you can see prolonged Flashing...

In any case reduce, you bias control.....if you are plugged in.....

In a dark room with the speaker cloths removed ...if you have * ARC-OVER* you should be able to see it.....

It may just be dust that is causing the problem.....Brush it away ,as descried above earlier...And Re-bias....
