The main virtue of the Sony ES9000 is it's high quality and low price. A member at Audiogon said Tweeter sold him a US version, new in box for $699.00.

It has an absolutely beautiful DVD picture which is ( IMO) is worth $400.00 of the $699.00. It has great steering for Dolby, plays SACD extremely well and a good job with redbook CD.

As for competing with your Accuphase, my first impression is, it would not. Must admit I have not had the pleasure of auditioning them against each other.

I am reviewing the new Lindemann CD from Germany. It is in the category with DCS, Audio Aero, Accuphase et all. Perhaps it will be wonderful, although I admit I am not a fan of digital. I'll give it a fair shake, with various isolation devices, power cords and interconnect in order to make it right.
