If the toroide load resistance value is increased, even a small amount from the original factory value.... by even as little as 5% increase...The volume will increase and will be perceived as an improvement..
In classic blind A / B speaker testing :The speaker that was perceived as the louder of the two speakers was always selected as the better of the two speakers tested...
Increasing the value of the toroide load resistance will only increase the mid-range volume of the ESL speaker...The Upper-Treble will stay the same ,because it is effected by the efficiency of the series capacitor and the upper sonic limits of the ESL speaker....
So the question is : What was the actual measured value of the original factory load resistance..? When Dr.West calibrated the speaker with the Crown Real-Time Spectrum Analyzer....For a Flat ,balanced, accurate response...
