She was initially taken aback by the A-1s, but after hearing them she saw the value of these great speakers. If one could get them set up, and the first impression a significant other had was the music, I don't think WAF would be a problem. However, one can't easily sneak A/M/U-1s into a house, and set them up while a significant other is away for a few hours, and so the initial impression many receive is that of Stonehedge brought to the living room without any compensating advantages.
I had electrostatic headphones for years (Stax, Fontek, Jeclin Floats), and had always wanted some full range electostats, but I lived on a boat and then in Alaska. Neither location was very optimal for SLs. Hence, the sudden jump from bookshelf speakers to SLs.
