The Bybee filters are controversial; some people do swear by them and others hear no important
effect. As for Mr. Bindeman's observation, the pulsating noise is a sign of a problem in the first
instance, and it's cause ought to be sought. Perhaps the Bybee has ameliorated the pulsing for
some odd reason, but have you removed the filters to determine whether the problem recurs?
It's possible that the pulsing was due to some odd physical proximity of components or wires
that you inadvertantly corrected in the process of installing the Bybees. For example, a switching
power supply in one piece of gear can sometimes induce a pulsing signal in a nearby piece of
gear that appears at the output. (Neither the Atma amps nor the CAT preamp [to my
knowledge] utilize switching power supplies, so the culprit would have to be some other
component.)
