It's actually the reverse. Your room is filling-in or sucking a lot of information that is not on the recording, and --especially in the bass-- cannot really be tamed by any reasonable form of room treatment. "Electronic tuning" only takes out what shouldn't be there to begin with or restores what should. What matters is not the sound that leaves your speakers, but the sound that reaches your ears. Big speakers can have big problems in this respect.

I don't understand your point about taming rear ambiance. The Tact will not turn a dipole into a monopole, if that is what you mean. It is being used by a number of people with dipolar speakers such as Magnepans.
