Backwards?

Hi SLOGers - Happy Thanksgiving!

Ok, first the disclaimer - this is a serious question, even if it seems goofy.

Has anyone ever had reason to turn your Soundlabs around 180 degrees so rather than face forward, they face the backwall?

In an effort to find the right location (forward/backward and sideways) in my room, I experimented with various locations, starting with the Cardas formula recommendation. I also experimented with toe-in. When my brother mentioned that the sound coming from the back was creating an interesting effect, I decided "what the heck, let's try turning them around 180 degrees." Surprising as it seems, they sound better that way. I can only guess that something very strange is going on with my room acoustics.

For whatever it's worth, I did a search on audioasylum and found that a number of Maggie users have had the same experience (which resulted in one user's wife saying that the speakers were un-becoming to the decor in their normal orientation and were especially so when faced backwards) - point being, I am not the only one having this hallucination.

The only other thing worth noting in my brief experience with these speakers is that they seem to consume endless amounts of amplifier power. I have a hunch that with a (very) large power amp they can sound glorius, but so far I haven't figured out how to feed them enough power. More on that later, but for now - has anyone ever tried turning them facing the backwall, or does anyone have a clue as to why they might sound better facing the back wall?

Thanks
