I can see why the dealer might hold this opinion. The 201's have a midrange "sweetness" that is quite enticing. The 501's tend to be more neutral in this regard, and certainly drive the speakers with greater authority. My preference is to components that are overall more neutral, euphonic characteristics notwithstanding.

The 201's are still a great match for the SoundLabs, especially newer models with greater efficiency than mine.
