I would expect the 201 and 501 to be more alike than they are different; that is, I would expect the sonic differences to be small.

Remember that even with the new higher sensitivity panels the Sound Labs are still a very nasty load, so more power is always welcome. Since with the 501's you get more than double the power (600 vs 250 watts) for much less than double the cost ($6700 vs $4700, at least over here) I think the big amps are definitely a better deal.
