Do a search of this gabfest for December. There was a long discussion about who should and
who should not bother to get the latest upgrade, which requires a complete speaker rebuild
because new stators have to be installed. A new very high voltage (~12 to 15kV?) bias supply has
to be installed also to make the speakers work well with the new high grade stator insulation. I
can only tell you that I figured out that my M1s, which are roughly 5 to 6 years old and have the
lower voltage bias supply and the most recent previous stator insulation, along with the copper
diffusion ring, would NOT benefit from the upgrade in terms of achieving noticeably higher
efficiency.
