John,
I would be very interested in Soundlab's explanation for what is causing the "hissing" in your panels. I know of several other cases where the current new insulation and bias supplies are doing the same thing, this time more or less uniformly over the whole of both panels, though more so from one than the other.
I've also heard what may be a similar "hissing" sound happen in a limited area after an arc had occurred. There was no apparent visible damage anywhere, just the remaining hissing sound. If I turned the bias briefly up into obvious "crackling", it sometimes would arc again but not always (did this maybe 3-4 times over several weeks). It operated OK at normal bias settings, but the "hiss" remained (you needed to very close to the speaker to hear this as it wasn't noticeable from the listening seat). The panel went back to Soundlab only to have them say they couldn't find anything wrong??!! Just in case, they rebuilt the panel anyway and returned it.
This may or may not be related to your "hissing" in some way. Just thought I would pass it on.
