How can it be so?

Brian, As I view it, the bias supply only has to be capable of supplying enough voltage to cause
the speakers to sizzle or crackle. The amount of voltage necessary to do this is dependent upon
the stator to diaphragm distance, humidity, the coating on the coating on the diaphragm, and
the insulation on the stator wires. When one orders the total upgrade, one gets two changes: (i)
the higher voltage bias transformer, and (ii) the new stator insulation which is a "better" insulator
than the older stator insulation. So, obviously if one has the new stator insulation one will
benefit from the new bias supply, because more voltage will be required to properly bias the
speakers. However, if one has the older stators, where the older bias supply is quite sufficient
for properly biasing the speakers, it is hard for me to understand why the newer bias supply
would be of any special benefit, except to fry the speakers big time, if one so desired. I ask this
question because you are not the first one with a factory affiliation to suggest that the newest
higher voltage supply would be of some benefit even with the older stator insulation.
