Roy, is the factory also going to install the 1.5-mH inductor (low-pass filter preceeding bass
transformer) that Kevin and you arrived at? If so, then the current feature allowing selection of
bass level will be dispensed with. This is a good thing in my view, because it allows one to use a
single very high quality air core inductor in the low-pass filter. For anyone who is going to ask
for the full upgrade, I highly recommend that you supply the factory with a boutique air core
inductor for installation in the backplate. After some research, I settled on the following choices:
(i) Solen Hepta-Litz, 12Ga, (ii) Alpha-Core 12Ga [available in copper or silver for big bucks], (iii)
the super-expensive ones from Switzerland [?Reference Mods, or something like that]. I chose
the Solen ones, and I consider this upgrade to have made a significant difference in the quality of
the mid-range and bass response, in conjunction with the mixer upgrade. (Either of the other
two choices of inductor brand are probably at least equally as good.) Believe me guys, this whole
mixer/etc upgrade is NOT a subtle improvement; it's remarkable.
