The "Venus fly traps" differ quite a bit from SALLIEs, but I imagine they could help, especially since your speakers are so close to the wall behind them. I'd try them on the wall directly behind the speakers or at the "focal point" of the backwave of the speakers. Optionally, cut them in half to make them 1 ft. wide and mount them on each side of tall open frames, positioned at the focal point described above - that's basically what a SALLIE is, although it uses the 6" deep wedges by Illbruck (Sonex). Hot melt glue is handy for mounting them.
