I think that Roger's low-key approach to marketing suits him just fine - word-of-mouth advertising has probably been his mainstay over the years and should hold him over for many more years to come. I don't know anyone these days who really takes the magazines very seriously - they've done SoundLab no favors through the years. The A-1 was originally introduced around 1981 and it wasn't until a few years ago that it began receiving the attention it deserved - and it didn't take them long to dump the old gal and move along to something newer to write about. The SoundLab community is very small but also very devoted the product - if you talk to many high-end designers they will tell you that reviews and magazines rarely make a significant difference - they might cause a blip at first, but that kind of business mostly caters to "frequent equipment changers" that rarely come back for seconds. The core of their business is with loyal customers who appreciate and understand the TLC that goes into designing and manufacturing a great product.
