Also, you are probably aware that room acoustics have everything to do with these phenomena,
and a dipole planar radiator interacts quite differently with the room than does a conventional
cone speaker. Are you absorbing the rear radiation? I find that although one usually wants to
attenuate the rear radiation a bit, I get the best 3-D i.e. room-filling effects, when I permit the
rear radiation to be at least partially reflected off rear walls, works best when the speaker is at a
slight angle wrt the rear walls.
