You can use a Counterpoint NPS 400 (250 watts) for $ 1400.00 or less and drive the A1 over 100 db. The trick to drive the A1 is to have a preamp with enough gain (aka Audio Research LSB 2 or 3). If you want to spend more money the new Yamaha digital (MX-D1) also does a great job.
