Does anyone happen to know what the true 1W @ 1meter sensitivity measurement is?
Duke explained to me that Dr. West's measurement is more based on the spl one
would get from an 88db conventional speaker if you were so far away from it;
however, he doesn't believe that it will measure 88db @ 1 meter away.
He did some measurements himself, and couldn't reproduce 1W with any certainty,
so he measured the db fall-off, from 1meter to 8 meters away, and compared that
with the same test upon a conventional speaker. what he got, was that the
compression driver speaker's spl fell-off by 11db from 1 meter to 8 meters; in
contrast, the Sound Lab electrostatic only fell off 4db! Pretty impressive
But I am still curious to know what the actual 1watt @ 1 meter figure is?
Gratefully,
David
