If your amplifier can drive BOTH speakers when set at either the -3db or +3db settings, then
there will be no problem if ONE of the speakers is set at -3 and the other at +3. Another way of
saying it: by and large the left channel does not know what the right channel is doing and vice-
versa, within limits. (If you do something stupid to one channel in an amplifier using a common
power supply for both channels, then of course the whole amplifier may blow, but your idea is
not stupid. Don't worry.)
