Can you believe it. Everything was going just fine with the heat treatment. I went into our lounge in the morning and you could really smell the static. One speaker started arcing overnight and I now have a small hole in the Mylar in the top left hand corner of one speaker. I am gutted. The Mylar must have been really thin there and the stress of playing music must have caused the hole to develop overnight with the bias set high. I got up very close the area with an eye glass to see in detail what was happening. Looking through the hole I appear to have a small crack in one of the tubes that are behind the Mylar, it is about 5mm long and I can see the arcing connecting with this crack.

I have emailed Roger about this, John but tell me in detail about your repair. If anyone else has had this type of problem then please pass on your experience of it here.

Don’t let this put anyone off doing heat treatment, the sonic gains were worth it. It is going to be a pain in the ass to sort it out though
