The bass responce of the full Range Sound Lab panels is so open and clean,And foward directional, I can not imagine using any cone speaker with them ever ! I was using a 12" Cone Sub with my A2x's and when I added Dr.West's 6' Sub bass Panel to my system. I felt that I had heard for the very first time true 28 Hurtz sub bass.!..When I turned on the other cone sub box the 60% distortion became so apperent & I no longer care to listen a cone/box speaker ever again...
Large ESL panels need a lot of back speaker room space to breath! Most instllations I have seen of ESL panels, I find the ESL panels speakers are fare to close to the back walls to produce deep bass! Six Feet 6' or more is needed, with some kind of adsorbtion or bass trap....We are all trained to listen to and be confortable with compresed ,distorted cone/box bass sound....How else could you explain the the popularity of the back seat truck boom box rolling around all over town at night....
If the room were fulled with water? What would happen to a bass wave of 150 feet in length? And what would 15' foot opposing walls do to it???? True bass?
