How big a hole can you patch with silicone - ¼” ?
I haven’t heard from Roger yet but the real problem I think is the stator tube. I wonder if one can inject it with a resin from behind. If the theory is good then I reckon I could do it. You would need to pull the wire away from the inside face of the tube where the crack in the tube is so that the resin formed a barrier at that critical area.

I was blown away with the sound of these new panels though, especially with no grill cloth. It gets better and better.
