How big are the holes in the mylar?
Is the arcing coming from the stator itself or from the gap in the mylar hole?
The prior set of cores I had were only a day old when arcing occurred.
At that time(4 yrs. ago)SL used some form of paint instead of the copper diffusion ring around the perimeter of the speaker. The paint formulation had changed w/o their knowledge resulting in peeling on the painted line.
The gaps in the line formed what you could call a spark gap, hence the arcing. It all turned out OK as the replacement cores had the CU diffusion ring and the frames were held together w/screws instead of the nylon ties.
