for offering an interesting and plausible explanation of "damping" as it applies to an ESL and for what my ears tell me, that my AS amplifiers with zero NFB and an output Z of about 4 ohms produce a very clean musical bass response from my M1s, really the best I have ever heard within the lower frequency limit of the panel in my room. I don't think you quite got around to pointing out that for a cone spkr the classical theory of "critical damping" says that there IS such a thing as too much damping or too great a ratio between the spkr input Z and the amplifier output Z (see Tomcik's article). BTW, rumor has it that Dr. West at least at one time used Krell amplification to voice the spkrs, a far cry from any OTL.
