Practice on dummy panels before you try it on your speakers!
It is quite easy to built a dummy panel - just get a picture frame of about 30 x 50 cm (size not critical), get the thinner mylar you can -better ask the factory for small samples - cut an oversized rectangle somewhat larger than the frame, stretch it on a kitchen table using some scotch tape on the borders, put some fast glue on the frame surface and lay it down on the mylar surface - you now have a panel to practice.
Only after you do it a few times you will get the feeling of the proper way of doing it.
Do not proceed until you feel confident. Remember however that mylar of different types and thickness will behave differently, always start with the lower heating setting on the real speaker.
