Due to core flexure I have found it best to
heat treat the mylar w/o removing the grille
or speaker from the frame and in the speakers
normal location.
This avoids changing membrane tension when
reinstalling the core to the frame.
Keep in mind my experience is limited to the U1
and that your speaker has the spandex.
I don't know if it's possible to heat treat
through the heavier fabric material.
