First, I agree with you that the effect of the room is enormous. This is true for every audio system regardless of the speaker chosen. My goal is the same as most audiophiles, make everything as good as it can be. If the room has been designed properly, the equipment is top quality and the speakers are your favorite and aligned to perfection, the only remaining weaknesses in the audio chain is the parts that can be upgraded. Soundlab speaker are not the only product in high end that lacks perfect parts. Many aftermarket companies offer upgrades for CD players, preamps and amps, even modifications for crossovers of speakers. It's not new and it's certainly not an original idea.

You might call Soundlab about this tomorrow. They are currently installing a set of Jensen Oil caps for a customer (not me) and agree that the sonics are superior to the original. Even so, this does not mean Jensen will now be installed in every new Soundlab. Money is all important in remaining viable in the competitive high end speaker market. There is nothing wrong with audiophiles improving parts at our "cost" rather than expecting Soundlab to take the responsibility, only to have to pass the expense on at a markup to cover their work.

I ask Connie about various part upgrades and the possibility of Soundlab taking this on, just last Tuesday. She replied, "Even though it's better, where would we put all that stuff and how would we ever keep track of who wanted what?"

A very good answer, My point exactly, it's our responsibility from this point on.
