that the hotter the biasing the more forward sounding it gets. I do not have amp power problems and I usually prefer to bias my SL at slightly lower than recommended bias method. The frquency balance is better in my system, but may not be in others. I also feel that the upper mids is not as pushy.
My method on preventing failure risk is to lower the bias a notch or two after a listenng session. My listening room is quite breezy, and the humidity changes quite a bit through the day. By biasing till it creaks and backing off slightly and leaving it there, can be problematic. There are days when it is so windy and dry that I need to readjust constantly if I use the recommended method.
