I have experienced such discharges a few times (I have a pair of M-1s and a pair of M-3s). Sometimes very small things (lint, spider web, etc.) can get stuck and/or protrude between membrane and stators and cause such a periodic discharge. You could try to carefully vacuum the area (after unplugging AC/bias and from outside the cloth/spandex) but you would have to be very careful not to cause too much air flow that could tear the membrane. Otherwise you can simply live with it till the constant discharges break down/consume whatever is stuck there. This could take days or even a few weeks.
Good luck,
George
