I agree with Will's calculation of the Wattage of the composite resistane created by the 8 resistors in the factory hi-pass filter preceding the toroid, but I wonder whether this is overkill by a factor of 2 at least; I doubt that the toroid itself could tolerate much more than 100W of sustained amplifier power, but more obviously, more than 100W delivered at frequencies above the x-over point would likely drive one out of one's listening room, if it didn't blow the panels. The filter may see 100w or even 200W on peaks, but never on a steady-state basis. Accordingly, I substituted the 8 factory resistors with 4 each of the finned non-inductive wirewound resistors sold by M Percy. (Forgot who makes them for M Percy.) These are 50W resistors if properly heat sinked, and I tried to make sinks that would fit in the chassis but finally gave up and mounted the resistors without sinking. Anyway, 4 X 12W Mills resistors of the proper value (giving a composite 48W resistor) would probably work just fine and might sound even better than the ones I installed. So too might the Caddock power resistors, but you really do have to heat-sink those in order to get the power rating above only a few Watts. It could be done.
