The R vallue will depend upon the vintage of the speakers and the status of the hi-pass filter.
(We are talking about the R in the RC network that comprises the hi-pass filter preceding the
treble transformer; if you have replaced the Brilliance control with a fixed-value resistor, then
you might want a second hi-wattage resistor of whatever value to replace that, too.) With
respect to the RC network, if you have the mixer upgrade, then R = 8 ohms. If you have a stock
set up, then R is less than 8 ohms, but the exact value varies with the vintage of the particular
pair of speakers. If you ask Roy, he could easily build the SuperResistor with more than one tap,
so that you could use it at either of two different values.
