A 6dB increase for flattening the curvature seems unlikely at a normal listening position and typical room. Having taken many measurements over the last couple of years, squeezing even 1 extra dB out of these speakers takes some doing.
I can imagine some improvement though and 1-2 dB seems closer to the mark but I suppose the bottom line is to simply swap the two speakers shapes over in the same room and setup and take measurements.
It would be nice to know if the 6dB stated was the result of a real world test.
Having said that, even 1-2dB increase at the listening possition would be very welcome.

I must say though that I think the smaller dispersion angle is the way to go.
When I rebuilt my A3’s I was very tempted at the time to break them open down the middle so that the two middle vertical facets were almost in line.

A 45 degree dispersion angle seems the perfect compromise to me.
