I have had 3 different pairs of SL speakers over the years and have always been told by my dealer (he has been a dealer almost since the start of SL)that you should not hear a correctly biased panel. I have always been told that if you can hear the crackling that you should back it off. Lew, I think that you should definitely back off the bias a bit, and I would be curious if you can tell any difference in the performance other than not hearing the crackling.
