I had a friend who owned both the A1 and the Diva's (and Duetta's) in the late 1980's. The A1's were pre torodial, HVPS and plastic frame....

The A1's were much better speakers. the base on the Apogee's were very underdamped (this was with ML 20's Krell's and Rowland as the amps). The Diva's weren't as low in distortion and didn't have the sweet tone possesed by the A1's, this is a quality where the sound of an instrument 'breathes'.

BTW the best amps at the time with the Sl's were the Futterman OTL's and the Counterpoint sa 4 (another OTL).
