The question I was asking : What causes the described burn-in.?..And why would you need an extra 6db of gain,especially when there is generally an excess of signal level between Preamp & Amp...It all seems very unnecessary..?.

To be very specific : There is no advantage of a balanced in-put ,unless long distant low level lines are required...[Microphones lines from a stage][Or systems that must operate in close proximity to a Hi-Power Transmitter]

If balanced inputs are superior,then why are they not used on: Guitars,Keybords,Pre-Amp Inputs,Standard phono pick up's,Tuners,Cable,Speakers,PC systems,Digital,Optical, RF,Video,Etc..????
