I just bought a set of A-6's. I am not overly pleased by the dark character of the speakers in my room. I have plenty of bass, but the mid range and high end is rather laid back. I formerly had a set of Quad US Monitors and their mids were great, but they lacked volume. The A-6's have volume in abundance but are so dark. Is there anything I can do to bring the mids and highs forward. I am presently using a VTL Ultimate PR-9 preamp and feeding two VTL Deluxe 120 Mono-blocks. Is there any place I could get a typical impedance graph for these speakers? Is this natural for this speaker or is it amplifier related? If it would help I can lower the approximate 5 ohm output of the VTL's to a little over 1 ohm, but in doing so I would likely lose power over the majority of the spectrum. The idea occurred to me that I might also biamp the system using the VTL's on the bottom and an Audio Research D-51 on the top, if that would help. That would give me separate control over the upper and lower ranges of sound. I generally would like more info on the A-6's and mods or tweeks for same. Reviews would be nice too. Any ideas are welcome.
