In regard to the various replies, find the following. The A-6 was the top of Sound Labs line of speakers in 1989. Selling for over $13,000.00, versus the A-1's at above $9000.00. It was a custom order design, and appears to be pretty rare. It is basically a combination of an A-1 and B-1s. It has a central curved panel that operates from 700 hz. up and a bass panel on either side operating from that frequency down. It, I believe, has the new toroidal transformers, but I have yet to look.

I did find out that the majority of my problem with poor high end was the amplification I was using. It seems the VTL 120's just don't have the necessary power for these beasts. Upon trying several other amps, I have found a wide range of sounds can be obtained from these speakers, mostly bad, in one way or another. I found one that sounds good if I bridge both channels together, but in doing so I now have only a mono system. So it would seem I need an amplifier/s for these beautiful monsters. Any suggestions for a used,(as I used most of my money on these), amplifier, that would work well with them?

Second problem. Through my careless stupidity in changing the bass equalization settings, while the speakers were being powered, I blew something in one of them. There are three settings selectable by jumper on the back plate, for each bass panel, of each speaker. I hope it was in the crossover, and not the high frequency panel itself, as that would require a trip to the manufacturer, and a lot of money. Only the center high frequency panel seems to be affected. I am a tech, but as yet haven't started checking it out. Any idea's where the problem might be? Has anybody else done this? Will anybody admit it? Lets hope someone has and will. In any case, thanks for the help and ideas. These are delightful speakers, but are quite new to me, so the guidance is much appreciated.
