Last weekend my wife Lori and I were driving from New Orleans to Park City pulling a trailer with some traded-in Sound Labs inside, to be refurbished. The U-Haul trailer we were pulling was one of the big ones with two axels and a "surge brake" system, which would brake the trailer when it sensed a deceleration. Lori was driving as we were climbing a hill in southern Wyoming, and a big semi pulled out to pass us. She took her foot off the accelerator, which caused a deceleration, and the surge brake system applied the brakes on the trailer. Unfortunately we were on some black ice at the time, so the trailer's wheels locked up and it started to slide. We did a half-donut in the road, then slid off the road and did a roll. Nobody got hurt. The car (my step-father's Suburan) did a complete roll, and the trailer went over on its side. Fortunately the speakers were pretty well packed and the damage was minimal - maybe the good news is that now somebody will get a good deal on a slightly dinged up pair of Sound Labs, once they've been refurbished.
Anyway, we were about 250 miles from Park City, so I called Sound Lab and told them what had happened. They IMMEDIATELY dropped everything and launched a rescue mission. Brett and Steve borrowed Roger's van, hooked it up to a trailer, and came to get us. Brett even offered to let Lori and I stay at his house, but Lori has family in Salt Lake City so that wasn't necessary. I suspect Lori of having a slightly sick sense of humor - when we stopped for a bite to eat on our way to Park City, she had the nerve to order a "turnover"...
Anyway, I just wanted to post my appreciation of Brett and Steve and the folks at Sound Lab for treating my wife and I like family. They went the extra 250 miles (well, 500 if you count the round trip) for us.
I expect we'll be back in New Orleans on Sunday.
