600 ohm termination makes a definite improvement, even on the 0.5-meter balanced interconnect to the Atma-Sphere amps. This interconnect, Silver Audio Silver Bullet 6.0, is not shielded. Any stray magnetic field that gets between the positive and negative phase wires in the interconnect will generate an emf across the load resistor in the power amp. Keeping this load resistor down to 600 ohms essentially shorts out the emf from stray fields.
The interconnect is barely long enough to reach from the CD player to the power amps. It does not dangle on the floor or lie next to other cables. However, due to the design of the Atma-Sphere MA-1 Deluxe chassis, it approaches to within three inches of the speaker cable terminals on the amps.
The Wadia driver is completely happy with 600 ohms. Not all line stage outputs are capable of driving this load, but, for those that can, adding the termination is recommended regardless of cable length.
